Domain Sadness…

So, I was curious and checked the status of my domain registrations at CX (Christmas Island off of the coast of New Zealand) that I got years and years ago. The registration has lapsed by 6-9 months! No notice from them, and the site has broken links and no response from their CS department. Renewal is like $50 each and we have two, so that’s $100 a year. My other domains (.net, .com, and .org) only cost $9 a year.

Looks like I might have to retire this domain (Badger.cx and Dragonfly.cx) which makes me very sad actually. I’ve had it for years!! But it looks like it’s going away, just like the island is (Globar Warming is eroding the island, and it’s slowly sinking…)

The thought of changing my online identity is kind of painful though, It’s quite a part of my life now. To change my email in all those places on line seems almost impossible, I mean I doubt I will be able to remember half of the accounts I’ve created…

We’ll probably move to one of our other domains such at http://roullett.org and set up redirects for as long as they last…

I’ll have to update my contact list once I decide what my new email is going to be… I’ll be sure to let everyone know as soon as we figure it out.

9. Plan a shopping trip, go for a walk, meet friends for coffee—just get somewhere safe—if he’s getting ready to glue up a project.

10. What might look like a junky old tool at a flea market is really a monumental find and source of joy for him. Harness that happiness. Now’s a good time to ask him to take you to dinner.

Got the wood theme working on WP site.

Spent a little getting the new WP theme up and running. Loved the background and layout, but some items needed updating. Over all it looks ok, but I wish it had hover menus for the root pages.

We got to go home early, he was doing so well.

We’re home now, and they’re sleeping upstairs. We’re all wiped out emotionally and physically but happy to be back in our own space again.

He’s feeling much better. We will be moving from PICU to a regular room today. He is eating food and recovering well.

For those that are wondering what is going on, here is the summary.

A while back he had a bad cold, and we had to take a weekend trip to the ER because we were concerned about his breathing. Turned out he had Croup, and got some stuff to take care of the problem. However, when they did a chest x ray to make sure his lungs were clear (they were) they found something else.

That something else turned out to be a “diaphragmatic hernia” where his diaphram had a bulge in it, and his left lung was being pushed up by his internal parts below it. No symptoms, no pain or anything, so we were lucky to find it before it became a problem down the line.

We’ve been rescheduling this surgery a few times due to him getting sick or availablilty of people but the repair work was finally done yesterday. They fixed the problem and he’s recovering well. His lung going to grow into the space it should have been and he’ll be fine it looks like.

They had several options for the repair, and they ended up doing the least invasive one lucky for him and us. They were able to do it all through three small holes rather than anything more invasive. I’ve been calling it surgery with knitting needles.

He’s sleeping now, after having woke up almost like our normal little guy. He’s recovering well, and we should be home monday possibly.
